Celebrating Legacy and Leadership: Parakram Diwas at SRM Institute

Parakram Diwas, celebrated annually on January 23rd, marks the birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose, one of India’s most iconic freedom fighters. This day serves as a reminder of his remarkable leadership and immense contribution to India’s independence. For the Youth of India Foundation, Parakram Diwas is an opportunity to inspire the younger generation to embrace the values of courage, resilience, and patriotism, which Bose stood for. The celebration calls on youth to lead with fortitude and take responsibility for shaping the future of our nation.

In collaboration with SRM Institute of Science and Technology, the Youth of India Foundation commemorated this occasion by organizing a Mini Marathon, bringing together participants of all ages, from schoolchildren to senior citizens. The marathon symbolizes strength, determination, and national progress, embodying the spirit of Parakram Diwas. The event was further elevated by the presence of notable guests, including Shri Arunachalam Rajendran, Shri Ravi Gupta, Shri Sailesh Singhal, and Major General (Retd.) M. Indrabalan. Their inspiring speeches underscored the importance of bravery, unity, and selfless service, encouraging young minds to carry forward these values in their personal and professional lives.

Quizzes and leadership contests were the highlight of the day’s events, emphasizing the intellectual growth and high IQ of the participants. Local government school children were felicitated for their remarkable IQ displayed in the quiz and various other competitions held throughout the day. Beyond the physical challenge of the marathon, the activities focused on fostering leadership and intellectual development. These initiatives celebrated the immense potential of India’s youth, inspiring them to strive for excellence. Additionally, the students were given an insightful tour of the SRM Institute campus, providing a glimpse into the higher education opportunities that could shape their future.

A Panel Discussion rounded off the celebration, with participants reflecting on the legacy of Subhash Chandra Bose and its relevance in today’s India. The conversation emphasized the importance of leadership, resilience, and selfless service, urging the youth to adopt these principles as they work to build a stronger, more progressive nation. Through such initiatives, the Youth of India Foundation continue to not only honour the past but also empower the next generation to drive meaningful change for the future.
