G20 Civil Society Summit 2022
The G20 Civil Society Summit 2022 was organized by the G20 Presidency in Bali on October 5th &6th.
Sailesh Singhal, Co-Founder of Youth For Green Hydrogen was present at the summit to present and discuss about the prospects of Green Hydrogen among the G20 nations through mobilisation and active participation of civil society organisations from across the world.
Youth For Green Hydrogen had been an official member of Civil 20 (C20) for G20 2022 Presidency. C20 is the official engagement group of G20 along with Y20, L20 and others.
Youth For Green Hydrogen had actively contributed in developing the C20 communique through the C20 working group on Environment, Climate & Energy Transition. The C20 communique focuses on “striking a balance to ensure a just energy transition from fossil fuel to environmentally and socially sustainable renewables. Providing reliable, affordable, cleaner and efficient energy” would be highly acknowledged. Further, C20 recommended G20 nations to ensure meaningful and impactful participation, control, and involvement of marginalised and vulnerable groups in the planning and implementation of climate and energy programmes by adhering to common standards.
During the summit, Sailesh also presented the importance of accelerating climate solutions and urging the G20 nations to adhere to common standards and practices on Green Hydrogen which was adopted by the world leaders in the Green Hydrogen Assembly. Further, he explained the 280+CSOs from 70+ countries who participated in the C20 Summit about the importance of Green Hydrogen technology and call for immediate action in Green Skilling young people for Green Jobs. Sailesh called the C20 Secretariat for continued partnerships with Green Hydrogen Organisation & Youth For Green Hydrogen in its Green Hydrogen Civil Society Round Table dialogue.
Later, Sailesh was invited to meet H.E. AirlanggaHartarto, Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Hon. G20 Indonesian Sherpa and presented him with the world’s first youth declaration on Green Hydrogen. The Sherpa has committed to utilising the document as a founding document in suggesting solutions to G20 nations on Green Hydrogen which will formulate as the final G20 Communiqué later in the G20 Summit in November in Bali.
